ON BOARD SAILORS!

Back to the Navy.

This photoshoot started in a vintage store in Florence called Fe. It is just a few minutes outside the city center of Florence, in via Gioberti, with a lot of vintage treasures in really attractive prices! When I first saw this jacket obviously, the navy look came into my mind!
In fashion things can change from time to time. What is in fashion now doesn’t mean that will be also tomorrow, it may come back after many years... That’s how fashion works nowadays.
But...
The “Navy Look” is an all time classic style that never goes cliché or passé .. It’s not a coincidence that Coco Chanel created that style inspired by the fishermen.  Every time I think of the “Navy Look” though, not only Coco Chanel comes to my mind but also Jean Paul Gaultier. Jean Paul Gaultier created the fragrance "LE MALE", in his ad campaigns uses male models dressed as sailors.
Through the years we saw all the designers using this particular style/inspiration in their collections and guess what! It's here for the Spring/Summer 2013 too. Moncler for the Moncler Gamme Bleu Spring/Summer 2013 collection brought the naval theme having 20 tap-dancing sailors (directed by Fabien Ruiz, choreographer of 'The Artist') on the runway show.(link) Balmain, ACNE, Dior Homme, Dolce & Gabbana, Elisabetta Franchi, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, PPQ are also some of them.

Here is my outfit inspired from all this "navy" history on a vintage navy jacket.
