BACK TO THE 60s

My "Twiggy" video made in Florence! Enjoy! ;)

This time I thought to do something different and at the same time cute and funny!!
As my favorite decade is the one of the 60's I took something from it!
This is ..........
The "Twiggy" look!!
I always loved her big eyes and her signature look!
So, I've tried to do her make up, but compared to Twiggy's eyes mine are like buttons!!
but at least I've tried!! ;)
I wish you've enjoyed the video!
Special thanks to my friends Francesco & Amos!

MUSIC
The 1950s music scene had been dominated by US rock 'n roll, but from the start of the 1960s, bands like the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks and The Who revitalised British pop.
The free festival "Woodstock" has ended the decade in a rural part of New York state with progressive musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead.

FASHION
This was an era that brought many signature looks and inspired many designers till nowadays.
Leather boots, mini skirts, false eyelashes, "bouffant" look, "beehive" hairstyles,"space age", metallic and neon colors, "Op art", geometric shapes, psychedelic clothing, bold and vivid color are some words that explain the 60s fashion scene.

Lesley Hornby, known as 'Twiggy', was a historical impact in the fashion industry. If you think that till the end of the 50s women had a body prototype such as Marylin's -curvy body- but, Twiggy brought in the fashion scene a different look, skinnier and "uncomfortable" cute, in a beautiful way. Her style, her big eyes and her even bigger eyelashes made a signature look and brought the extreme version of the mod look!
She was the IT girl of the 60's she even gave her name to be used on a line of clothing, accessories, cosmetics-even dolls. For a model to become a business unto herself was totally revolutionary.

ON BOARD SAILORS!

Back to the Navy.

This photoshoot started in a vintage store in Florence called Fe. It is just a few minutes outside the city center of Florence, in via Gioberti, with a lot of vintage treasures in really attractive prices! When I first saw this jacket obviously, the navy look came into my mind!
In fashion things can change from time to time. What is in fashion now doesn’t mean that will be also tomorrow, it may come back after many years... That’s how fashion works nowadays.
But...
The “Navy Look” is an all time classic style that never goes cliché or passé .. It’s not a coincidence that Coco Chanel created that style inspired by the fishermen.  Every time I think of the “Navy Look” though, not only Coco Chanel comes to my mind but also Jean Paul Gaultier. Jean Paul Gaultier created the fragrance "LE MALE", in his ad campaigns uses male models dressed as sailors.
Through the years we saw all the designers using this particular style/inspiration in their collections and guess what! It's here for the Spring/Summer 2013 too. Moncler for the Moncler Gamme Bleu Spring/Summer 2013 collection brought the naval theme having 20 tap-dancing sailors (directed by Fabien Ruiz, choreographer of 'The Artist') on the runway show.(link) Balmain, ACNE, Dior Homme, Dolce & Gabbana, Elisabetta Franchi, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, PPQ are also some of them.

Here is my outfit inspired from all this "navy" history on a vintage navy jacket.
