MARY KATRANTZOU SS'13

Once upon a time there was a girl who started to collect stamps and different kind of money during her trips around the world.
She dreamed about how she can use this certain things to create something....

“For that child, a stamp, a banknote were small passports to an exotic otherness. Or maybe they were instruments connecting cultures. As borders changed and currencies became obsolete, stamps and banknotes lingered as tokens of the past, literal souvenirs of the values of other, lost cultures.”-style.com

As Mary Katrantzou said in her interview “I wasn’t looking at something that has a 3D nature it was more about geometric pattern, painting on brocades, textures and forms that are easy so people can wear. “

When I first saw the designs it came to my mind Magna Graecia and in general Greece. As I come from there and I saw this beautiful meandros prints upon the dresses combined with all this beautiful postage and banknotes.. Seriously, I was stunned!

As Topshop writes on the blog the collection in 5 words is :
iconic, breathtakingly ornate, dazzling, luxurious

Well.. While I was looking on the runway video and then the pictures.. I was thinking.. If I was there and something would told me pick one and you can have it which one would it be??!!
Hmm I think I would go for that one !! on the picture below! But seriously its a really tough decision!! ;)
